In 2016, startup and nonprofit SPASM Skateboards was ready to introduce a new identity and explore a new logo design around an owl motif. Symbolic of wisdom, transition and protection, the owl represented the founding ideals of peace, activity and perseverance of SPASM, which stands for Seeking Peaceful Awareness by Staying Motivated.

Working with the founder, I developed this subtle portmanteau logo using an owl and a skateboard. The simplicity, iconic style of the logo allows it be instantly recognizable while accompanying busier artwork on skateboard decks and brand apparel.
